This course will explore the development of a person from conception until old age/death. The course will look at the integration of physical, social, and cognitive development and the impact of each on the person. The course will explore culture, society and family dynamics and their impact on the person throughout their lives. Health and well-being will be discussed as will stress and other internal and external influences on development, such as technology and social media.
This one-credit course is for third year students, or transfer students, to help build practical skills for applying for jobs and for graduate school.
Abnormal psychology is designed to introduce the student to the current classification of psychological disorders and to provide an understanding of the various theoretical perspectives of their etiologies. Among the topics to the considered in this course are the disorders of anxiety, personality, sexual functioning, mood and schizophrenia. There is a statistics and research component included in this course.
