This course examines the crucial role the immune system plays regarding battling infection and cancer in the body. The mechanisms in which the body has the ability to recognize and distinguish between what is self vs. non-self, will be explored. There is an emphasis on examining the basic principles of immunology, as well as studying the tissues and cells that make up the immune system. Understanding the structure and function of immunoglobulins, and learning how cell mediated as well as humoral immunity functions will also be explored.
